About INNOVATE EU

A new international acceleration program – INNOVATE-EU – has officially launched, aiming to bridge the innovation gap between Europe’s leading and emerging regions. Funded by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), INNOVATE-EU supports deep tech startups in Greentech, Agrifood, ICT, and Health to scale their innovations and connect with key actors in Europe’s dynamic innovation ecosystems.

What is INNOVATE-EU?

INNOVATE-EU is a two-year EU-funded initiative that brings together eight partners from five countries – Germany, Romania, Spain, Latvia, and Lithuania – to strengthen regional innovation capacity and build a pan-European startup support community.

Coordinated by STEINBEIS 2i GmbH (Germany), the consortium includes:

  • Grünhof GmbH (Germany)
  • IMAGO-MOL and CLUSTERO (Romania)
  • IDIA and FZC (Spain)
  • LPUF (Latvia)
  • AgriFood Lithuania DIH (Lithuania)

With €1.46 million in total funding, the program addresses regional disparities and empowers deeptech startups through tailored training, mentorship, and connections to investors and ecosystems. Between October and December 2025, following with 2nd round of program in 2026 INNOVATE-EU will deliver a series of specialized training modules and events designed to fast-track startup growth:

  • Accelerate (Germany)
  • Play Class: Business Model Canvas (Germany)
  • RAISE VC Masterclass (Germany)
  • Rubik Garage MVP-ready
  • Rubik EDU (pre- MVP) (Romania)
  • Agrifood Accelerator (Lithuania)
  • One-on-one mentorship (Spain, Germany, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania)

The modules are tailored to startups in key sectors and regions, combining online and on-site formats with opportunities for travel cost reimbursement.

Who Can Apply?

Startups and scaleups working in:

  • Greentech
  • ICT
  • Agrifood
  • Health / Medtech

Priority is given to applicants from Latvia, Lithuania, Northeast Romania, Spain (Aragon), and Germany (Baden-Württemberg). However, startups from all EU regions are welcome.

Applications are assessed on a rolling basis, with deadlines starting in September 2025. Each module has its own application link and timeline, so interested startups should apply early.

🔗 Why It Matters

Europe’s innovation landscape suffers from fragmentation, often leaving startups in moderate or emerging innovator regions without the support they need to scale. INNOVATE-EU tackles this head-on by:

  • Building cross-border connections
  • Providing hands-on support and training
  • Giving startups access to investors and pilot customers
  • Creating an inclusive European startup community
